We saw a huge flock of these lovelies presiding over the local pumpkin patch feasting on sunflower seeds and corn.
One evening many years ago, two broken hearted, tired women walked around Greenlake trying to find something to be happy about. At the north end of the lake we passed a bush with a singing redwinged black bird. For me at least, it was a moment in time where I could see that I would not always feel like someone had stomped on my heart and left it bleeding in the shade. Hope in a blackbird. To quote the other Beatle,
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free
Happy Fall Heidi!
