No health care for poor or working class kids in this country. Nope. Not here. Can't have any of that diabolical socialized medicine here. Our kids are Americans dammit! They can pull up their own bootstraps and take out their own tonsils too. WHAT A LOAD OF PARTISAN CRAP. On all sides. What will it take for this country to realize that the current insurance/medical care system is not working. It is not. There are millions of children in this country, THIS COUNTRY!, who cannot afford to see a doctor. Whose parents go from ER to ER just trying to keep ahead of ordinary, curable, treatable childhood illnesses. Thank goodness our President saw through the thinly veiled stab at getting them reliable health care. Wouldn't want those middle class kids using the system. Hell, someone might get a bone set.
Did you know that prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are afforded some of the best health care available. Why is that same "privilege" not granted to the children of this country. My opinion? Because some of them are poor. We hate the poor in America, they make us uncomfortable, they remind us that not all is well. One day we could be among them, where would you be if you lost three, four, six paychecks? According to the Institute of Medicine, "lack of health insurance causes roughly 18,000 unnecessary deaths every year in the United States. Although America leads the world in spending on health care, it is the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not ensure that all citizens have coverage."* What if one of those is your kid.
Contact your congress person and tell them how you feel. ( yes, even if you disagree with me. This is America.) You can find them here.
This is health care people. Health care for kids. In arguably the wealthiest country in the world. Sign the damn bill. Fix it.

The really bizarre part to me is that it would cost fewer tax dollars to have universal basic health care that it does to pay for all the uninsured visits to the emergency room for those who don't have it.
OK, I don't have the figures to back that up, but I'm sure someone has done the math.
So in the interest of lining the pockets of their wealthy friends with stock in the health care industrial complex, universal access is scuttled by Congress over and over and over.
When are we going to take to the streets about this???
