Two reasons why I love the internet.

Yesterday was a crappy day and I wanted to make cookies ( Doodle did too, but he always wants to make cookies) Yesterday was also day 7 of my self imposed challenge of not buying groceries for one whole week. ( I made it by the way, though we did have some rather interesting meals) So; flour, check. Vanilla, check. Sugar, check. Peanut free chocolate chips...check! Eggs, check. Wait, cancel that. No eggs. How can I be out of eggs!? Off the google I go. Type in "egg free cookie recipe." and lo and behold BINGO!

These delicious crispy babies were born. The amazing thing is, we never have rice crispies in the house. But way back in the depth of the pantry was one lonely box with exactly 2 cups left.

Krispie Kookies
1 1/4 cups plain/all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup soft butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
2 cups rice krispies/puffed rice
1 cup carob chips
Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas mark 4
Sift together the flour and cinnamon.Set aside.Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy and light.Add dry ingredients with the rice and carob chips.Mix well.
Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until cookies are a pale golden brown.

I used chocolate, not carob. Carob tastes like soap.

Then in the mail, this fabulous zine from Ryan in Portland. Heaven for little boys.

Ryan is a geotech engineer in Portland and this is his first zine. The drawings are accurate and lovingly drawn. Such affection for machinery! So far Doodle has refused to put it down. You can see more of Ryan's drawings here and read his blog here. I sincerly hope there are more zines from Ryan in the future( your check...er...handmade gift is in the mail!) I found his work through Diane at Craftypod
Craftypod is one of my favourite guilt pleasures, I just want to lie down nekkid and roll around in all the crafty goodness.
so. There you have it. Two reasons why the internet is better than some overworked IRL friend who is too busy to return my calls. You know who you are.
